4. Choice of one of two topics

Topic A: 

Waffles are a very common dish for breakfast, they can be accompanied by fruits, ice cream, creams or syrups, but nowadays there are also savory varieties, I only like the sweet ones. 

They are original from Belgica and date back to the medieval kitchen, their particular way of cooking with that grid style is due to the thick iron plates that were used to achieve a better cooking of the dough even in cold ambient temperatures. 

Nowadays they are cooked all over the world and the most traditional besides the classic Belgian waffles, are the ones prepared in North America, where many delicious varieties have been created for this recipe, my favorites are the ones with banana and syrup. 

Ingredients for the waffle batter: 

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of milk (375cc.)
  • 100 grams of melted butter
  • 2 cups of flour without baking powder (240 grams)
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For sweet waffles, 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • For savory waffles, 3 teaspoons salt

First beat the eggs until frothy, then add the milk and the melted butter, separately sift the flour, salt and baking powder, and the sugar in case of sweet waffles. Mix the dry ingredients with the liquid ingredients, stirring with a spoon until a smooth batter is obtained. Finally, butter the baking plate of the machine, and then pour the mixture into the preheated machine until it is full. When the waffles are ready, they should be carefully removed. Personally I accompany them with sliced banana and syrup, they are very delicious!!!! 

I like them a lot because they are perfect for breakfast and easy to prepare, but they also bring back beautiful memories of my childhood, my mother always made them on weekends if we were good at school. 

They are not very healthy because they have a lot of calories, but you can change some ingredients to make them healthier, I don't recommend you to eat them every day, but on special occasions.
